Inaugural Marion Chamber Golf Fun Day held
The inaugural Marion Chamber Golf Fun Day was held on Friday, June 8 at Crab Orchard Golf Course and it was a unique, FUN event for ALL!


The inaugural Marion Chamber Golf Fun Day was held on Friday, June 8 at Crab Orchard Golf Course and it was a unique, FUN event for ALL!

The following teams participated:

The event began with registration, sponsored by First Southern Bank, at the Clubhouse from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch (sponsored by Clearwave Communicationsand cart decorating from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch was catered by Crab Orchard Golf Club and included hotdogs and brats, pasta salad, chips and drinks. 

Winners included:
  • Austin Lewis - Banterra Bank drawing for planner and $50 gift card
  • Jerry Beasley - Tennis Ball Long Drive Challenge (Priority Staffing gift basket and $25 Applebee's gift card)
  • BNI Star Chapter team - Best Themed Team (Rick & Morty board game and Krispy Kreme certificates)
  • Edward Jones - Brian McHugh team - Most Team Spirit (Goodie bags from My Michelle's Photography)
  • Title Professionals, Inc. team - Best Decorated Cart (prizes from Peoples National Bank)
  • Title Professionals, Inc. team - Worst Score (One free golfer entry in the 2018 Marion Chamber fall golf scramble for each golfer on the team)
  • Steven Green - Lucky Umbrella tickets
  • Michael P. Tison - Budweiser bag board/cooler set with bags donated by Golden Eagle Distributing
  • Gail Barger - Natural Light Zero Gravity Chair donated by Golden Eagle Distributing
Hotdogs and brats, chips and salsa, and drinks, as well as all scoreboards were available at the pavilion throughout the entire event. Thank you to Clearwave Communications, the event's Loitering Sponsor. 

Play began at 1 p.m. 

This event is NOT your average golf scramble! Fun contests and unique events included:
  • Hole 1 - Water balloons: All golfers teed off with their ball/tee surrounded by water balloons. Sponsored by Black Diamond Harley Davidson
  • Hole 3 - Hit from the Throne. Players had to drive from a toilet placed at the tee. Sponsored by Banterra Bank
  • Hole 5 - Tennis ball long drive challenge: Contest included seeing who could get the most distance hitting a tennis ball instead of a golf ball on this hole. Sponsored by Priority Staffing Group
  • Hole 6 - Random Club Challenge: On the tee box, all golfers drew a card out of a box that assigned them the club they must tee off with and then play out to the green with only that club. No trading was allowed. Sponsored by Golden Eagle Distributing
  • Hole 7 - Best Decorated Cart: Players were asked to convince the Live Hole Sponsor at this hole to vote for their team for the Best Decorated Cart award. Sponsored by Peoples National Bank
  • Hole 9 - Elimination hole: For this hole, once a player's shot was used, they were out for that hole. Then, the second shot person sat out with the tee shot person. Sponsored by Frontier Communications. 
  • Hole 11 - Best Themed Team/Best Appearing Crew: Players were asked to convince the Live Hole Sponsor at this hole to vote for their team for the Best Themed Team/Best Appearing Crew award. Sponsored by HireLevel
  • Hole 13 - Putt Trifecta: Players took their shot and then chose which flag on the green (red, white or blue) they will putt to. Sponsored by AT&T
  • Hole 15 - Most Team Spirit: Players were asked to convince the Live Hole Sponsor at this hole to vote for their team for the Most Team Spirit award. Sponsored by My Michelle's Photography
  • Hole 17 - Gopher It: On this hole, players paid $1 for each point they wanted to add to the team's score behind them on the course. The points were added to their score on Hole 16. Sponsored by Black Diamond Harley Davidson
  • Lucky Umbrella contest - Tickets for the “Lucky Umbrella” (umbrella filled with $150 in lottery tickets) were sold. The drawing were held at the end of the event. Sponsored by US Bank
  • Heckler Cart - Helpful hecklers toured the course throughout the event, providing drinks and laughs to all attendees. Sponsored by Banterra Bank
