We have 21 students who qualified to compete at Nationals in June. This year National Leadership Conference is in Anaheim, CA. The cost for airfare, hotel, registration, etc. is about $1,100 per student. Our chapter helps cover part of the costs for students to compete. However, with this many students qualifying we will not be able to provide as much support per student as we normally do.

FBLA members are business students who understand the importance of earning what they need to take care of themselves. That's one of the reasons they did so well competing and qualifying for Nationals. They worked for the right to attend the national conference

Our members are interested in working for Chamber members doing odd jobs like cleaning out storage rooms, taking care of extra shredding, filing, etc.  If Chamber members might have some extra items they need done that their regular employees do not have time to complete, they could make a donation to FBLA and our students could complete the tasks needed. 100% of the money would go to the students who work to help pay for their trip to Nationals.

We have some families with two children who qualified. We even have a family with a set a twins who qualified and their mother is going through treatment for Leukemia and has been unable to work with her extended treatment stay in St. Louis. Our chapter members will be conducting fundraisers to help students with costs. However, with this many students going it will not be easy for our chapter to raise over $20,000 in approximately three months.

We appreciate any opportunity available for our students to earn the funds necessary to participate in this wonderful opportunity. We would also like to extend our thanks to the Marion Chamber of Commerce for their continued partnership with our chapter and look forward to serving its members in any way we can.
