Marion Chamber Foundation holds 7th annual Bass Tournament
60 boats competed in the tournament at Pyramid Acres Marina.

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation sponsored the 7th annual two-person Bass Tournament at Pyramid Acres Marina on Sunday, March 26. The event was a fundraiser for the Marion Chamber Scholarship Program. 

Chris Haub of Carterville and Michael Jones of Johnston City took home $1,366 and the first place trophy for catching four fish weighing 16.64 pounds. The team also took home the Big Bass trophy and $600 for catching a 6.57 pound fish.

Jeffrey Ray and Gabe Jelly, both of Marion, took home $529 and the second place trophy for catching four fish weighting 15.39 pounds.

Dustin Keilhorn of Harrisburg and Kenny Atchison of West Frankfort took home $369 and the third place trophy for catching four fish weighing 14.62 pounds.

In fourth place was Tim Norman of Marion and Danny Clark Jr. of Benton, who caught four fish weighing 14.17 pounds. They earned $278.

Taking home fifth place and $209 was Richard Baker and CJ Easter, both of Benton, who caught four fish weighing 14 pounds.

In sixth place was Jason Huey and Calvin Huey, both of Creal Springs who took home $148 for catching four fish weighing 13.46 pounds.

Clayton Campanella of Mulkeytown and Dave Thompson of Marion earned seventh place and $101 for catching four fish weighing 13.18 pounds. 

In eighth place was Leroy McDuffie of McLeansboro and Lane Bauman of Tamaroa who caught four fish weighing 12.87 pounds.

Catching four fish for a total weight of 12.81 pounds in ninth place was Brennon McCork and Addison Eggertsen, both of West Frankfort.

Finally, in tenth place were Ryne Sanders of Energy and Bob Sanders of Herrin who caught four fish with a total weight of 12.49 pounds. 

30% of the entry fees went toward the Marion Chamber Scholarship Program. The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation currently offers two scholarships: John A. Logan College Two Year Tuition Waiver and a Grad Spree Scholarship. The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation awards these scholarships based on the amount of money generated by the fundraising efforts from the previous year. The remaining monies from the tournament constituted plaques and the gross cash purse.
