Tyler Williams designs winning Grad Spree t-shirt art
Tyler Williams, a senior at Marion High School, designed the art for the 2015 Grad Spree t-shirts.

Tyler Williams, a senior at Marion High School, designed the art for the 2015 Grad Spree t-shirts. Art students at Marion High School were invited to submit designs for the 2015 Grad Spree t-shirts. The Marion High School Student Council chose a winner out of all of the submissions. Tyler was the winner and received $75 from the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Marion Unit #2 Schools Foundation and the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce sponsor Grad Spree, which was started 30 years ago to help insure that graduation is the beginning of a new life, not the end of one.

We provide a night of fun-filled activities at the SIU-C Rec Center, following graduation ceremonies. Graduates (and their guest if they invite one) meet in the parking lot of Rent One Park and board buses for Carbondale between 11:00 PM and 11:30PM. All activities will be in a drug and alcohol free environment. Participants are prohibited from leaving the activities and no student may drive to the event. If a graduate must leave early, a written notice must be turned in to the Marion Chamber of Commerce office prior to May 13 and include the time they will be leaving and the name of the parent or legal guardian who will be picking up the student. We are not responsible if the student signs up and does not attend. Graduates return to Rent One Park at approximately 4:30 AM.

Registration Forms and the Rules of Grad Spree were distributed to graduates at the high school. If a graduate needs a form and/or a copy of the rules, they may get those at the high school office or Marion Chamber office. Because each senior will receive a T-shirt, registration forms were due by April 30. If a graduate returned the form after April 30, they are not guaranteed the t-shirt size they requested.

Marion’s 2015 Grad Spree is FREE TO ALL SENIORS and only $10 for one guest. We are expecting more than 320 seniors and their guests, plus more than 50 adult volunteers to attend the event this year. The cost of this event is covered by direct donations and dollars raised at various Marion Chamber of Commerce fundraisers.

As part of our annual drive to raise funds for this events, we are requesting donations and door prizes to cover the cost of the event. Any item you can donate will help make this a memorable evening for the seniors. The event costs approximately $50 per student. Please consider sponsoring a student or two! We feel this is one of the most important events that the Marion Unit #2 Schools Foundation and the Marion Chamber of Commerce has ever sponsored as it can actually save a life. We are asking you to help us make that difference.
