The Marion Chamber of Commerce September Membership Luncheon was held on Tuesday, September 9 at noon at the 2ND Battalion - 130TH Infantry Regimental Armory at 11427 Minuteman Road in Marion, Illinois.
Did you know the Army National Guard is a Citizen-Soldier tradition spanning more than 360 years? Did you know that every year the Illinois National Guard spends about $300 million on goods and services in Illinois? The Army National Guard has a unique dual mission to serve both country and community, and they are opening the doors of their Marion Armory to show the members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce just what it means to be in the Army National Guard.
While enjoying lunch catered by Kokopelli, attendees viewed the 130TH Infantry's vehicles (M998 Command and M997 Field Litter Ambulance HMMWVs), weapons display (including M9 pistols, M320 grenade launchers, M240 general purpose machine guns, M2 heavy machine guns, M4 carbines, . M107 special application scoped rifles, M110 semiautomatic sniper systems, and Javelin guided missiles), optics display (including AN/PAS-13 thermal weapon sights, M150 advanced combat optical gunsights, and AN/PVS-14 night vision devices), Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 (where guests sharpened their shooting skills in a fire team defense scenario) and members of their elite team.
Recruiting Noncommissioned Officers were on-hand to respond to any membership questions.
The speaker for our September luncheon was Donald H. Hutson, FACHE, Medical Center Director at the Marion VA Medical Center.
