SICH Dodgeball Tournament

The Southern Illinois Coalition (SICH) is hosting its second annual Dodgeball Tournament fundraiser on May 6, 2017 at The HUB in Marion, Illinois.  This year there are two divisions making it an even bigger and better event.  The Youth Division is for ages 12-17 and the Adult Division is for ages 18 and up. The funds raised by this event will go to help homeless or near homeless individuals and families who are served by SICH in Southern Illinois.

The Southern Illinois Coalition for the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was started in 1989 by individuals who recognized there was a need for low-income families to have a chance to buy a home of their own.  The Coalition started with the “Homeless to Homebuyer Program” that purchased and rehabilitated 46 homes to assist low to very low income individuals and families become home owners.   SICH expanded their range of programs to include affordable rental housing with supportive services for individuals and families that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  We currently have 45 homes or apartments that we rent and seven homes that are under contract to purchase. The individuals and families we serve come from homeless and domestic violence shelters; halfway houses; Veteran hospitals; the streets; and from situations where they are forced to live in overcrowded housing with family and friends due to economic situations.

We are looking for both teams and sponsors for this event!

Webinar Series: Federal Employment Policy: An Update for All Illinois Employers

Liability Concerns for Small Businesses that Use Drones
May 24 | 10:30 - 11:30
Taught by attorneys Brandt Madsen and Alan Farkas, SmithAmundsen LLC

More and more businesses are making use of unmanned aerial systems, also known as
drones. On one hand, drones may alleviate the safety and liability concerns that arise when an employee is tasked with a particularly hazardous activity. Yet, on the other hand, drones raise all sorts of additional liability and damage concerns. Brandt Madsen and Alan Farkas, of SmithAmundsen will share tips on how companies can protect and insulate themselves from these concerns while enjoying the benefits associated with drone operations.

Business Breakthrough Webcast Series

The Strategic Business Breakthrough Series, a program designed to help executives understand the interactions of the separate parts - the natural forces that affect a business - rather than evaluate them in isolation. This requires executives to hone a set of new skills to become accurate-thinking strategists who have mastered the art of foresight-based insight, a core principle underpinning the curriculum of this exceptional program.
