Are you an unpaid caregiver selflessly caring for a family member or friend?     Do you need a break?  Would you like to chat with other caregivers in similar situations?  Then come to the Caregiver Retreat on Tuesday, September 29, 2015! It will be from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Carterville Community Center, 120 North Greenbriar Road. The theme this year is, ‘Let’s Stop and Smell the Roses!’ Come and get rejuvenated so you will be better equipped to care for others!

The morning will be filled with great information, uplifting speakers and a lot of laughter! The outlandishly funny Ms. Carrie Giver, also known as Dr. Gynell Baccus, will be the Hostess and Master Gardener for the day.
Jo Sanders, SIH Health Ministry Coordinator, will talk about worry and how to combat it.  Then Marsha Nelson of Shawnee Alliance will inform guests what resources might be available for help.
Next, Dr. Tom Kadela of the VA Medical Center will teach caregivers strategies to manage stress. And last, but certainly not least, Patrick Laws of Senior Adult Services, will have the audience in stitches with his gift of making people laugh.

Following a full morning of entertainment and learning, lunch will be provided by Crystal’s Catering. Next, guests will enjoy a relaxing afternoon of massages, manicures, makeovers, glamour shots and visiting! Best of all, everything is FREE!  Men and women of all ages who are caring for a loved one are encouraged to attend.

Adult Day Services are being provided at no charge by Addus Adult Day Service, Marion, (618) 998-2032. Senior Adult Services, Carbondale, (618) 457-4151 and Williamson County Programs on Aging in Herrin, (618) 988-1585.  Day Service attendees must be registered by September 23.  You will be able to enjoy a full day of learning, fun and relaxation while your loved one is being cared for.
