Illinois' employers are entering into unknown territories with these two new pieces of legislation. Attorneys from Fisher & Phillips LLP will give employers best practices to follow to navigate the laws and avoid liability by covering potential issues arising from the marijuana and firearm legislation. There will be specific focus on the interplay between medical marijuana legislation and the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Short Term/ Long Term Disability policies, employer substance abuse policies, and the hiring and firing of medical marijuana users. The seminar will also discuss the practical application of handling medical marijuana users and concealed firearm carries within the confines of the employment relationship.
