State of the State of Illinois Workers’ Compensation . . . Has Illinois Turned the Corner?
Presenters: Gene Keefe & Shawn Biery l Keefe Campbell Biery & Associates
Illinois’ 2014 State of the State Address featured an assertion by Governor Quinn that after five years in a state-of-emergency economic climate which had no quick exit, Illinois was making a comeback and the job was getting done; the storm had been weathered and the damage was being repaired. Do these statements apply to the condition of Workers’ Compensation in our state? Is the Illinois’ Workers’ Compensation system on its way to official reform? What type of an effect will the upcoming gubernatorial election have on Work Comp issues, and most importantly, could employers see any cost reduction in Workers’ Compensation expenses as a result? This presentation will analyze and discuss Illinois’ present situation regarding Workers’ Compensation and will offer insight on whether employers might see relief in the near future.
